BIOGRAPHY

let me tell you a little about myself ...

Diana Ruffer is a freelance clarinetist living in Pittsburgh, PA. Diana has performed with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Symphony, The Boston Philharmonic, Opera Carolina, Virginia Symphony among others. She was also one of the founding members of The Phoenix Orchestra and Hub New Music. She has performed concerts in Boston’s Jordan Hall, Boston’s Symphony Hall, Mechanics Hall, Sanders Theater, The Belk Theater and The Ferguson Center for the Arts.

 

As a soloist, Diana has most recently had the pleasure of performing with The York River Symphony Orchestra and also performed with the Union Symphony as the Young Artist Competition winner. Diana has placed in the Young Artist Competitions for both The Brookline Symphony and The Philharmonic Society of Arlington. Lastly, she has performed in the Single Reed Symposium at Pennsylvania State University and the Christopher Newport University Clarinet Symposium as a featured soloist. Diana enjoys making all types of chamber music and has had the honor of performing in the Rockport Chamber Music Festival multiple times.

 

One of her favorite things to do is to teach. Diana has a private studio where she loves to bring music and the art of clarinet playing to any and all students. She also given lectures, group lessons and master classes at schools primarily along the east coast. Diana obtained her Bachelor of Music from The Boston Conservatory earned her Master of Music from New England Conservatory and her primary teachers include, John Sadak, Michael Norsworthy and Richard Stoltzman.

 

When she is not playing or teaching, one can usually find Diana spending time with her friends, family and husband or playing with her two doodle pups.
